With the tremendous success bestowed upon Apples latest release with the MacBook Air, one starts to wonder what they might have up their sleeve next.
Steve and company has managed to work closely together with Intel to push the boundaries for physical size-shrinking and technological endeavors to the extreme. As the technology developed and created for the iPhone has rubbed off on the new MacBook Air and it's track-pad capabilities, one can only think it's highly likely that the technologies developed for the MacBook Air, in turn will rub off on some other parts of the product lines.
In this regard I'm specifically thinking about the overdue iMac update. The iMac last saw an update around 200 days ago, and that is bordering on it's average update cycle. Which make me wonder where the announcement has gone? Maybe some difficulties with the technology is holding it back.
My prediction is that the new iMac will be just thin enough to include an optical drive. Only a standard dual layer superdrive, as Blu-Ray is more likely to make it's debut at the World Wide Developers Conference in June.
But an iMac just as thin as the MacBook Air, would be a significant design statement for Apple, as the technological king of the world.
iMac Air, shipping April 8th?
